Reflecting Flame I – Brass is a wall hung sculpture for candles by design duo Christian+Jade. The Reflecting Flame is made in brass that reflects the light of the lit candle. Its form plays on the flickering movement of a flame, creating a backdrop that radiates and emphasizes its light.
Each piece is crafted, hammered and finished by hand.

Reflecting Flame I – Brass is a wall hung sculpture for candles by design duo Christian+Jade. The Reflecting Flame is made in brass that reflects the light of the lit candle. The piece’s form plays on the flickering movement of a flame, creating a backdrop that radiates and emphasizes its light. The candleholder is an ode to our collective history with fire, a living form which humans gathered around for warmth, light and protection. Fire’s flickering flames were our companion to the night, before modern lighting allowed us to turn night into day. Through the act of hammering the brass, Christian+Jade carve out vessels and backdrops that contains and reflects the fire back into our living space. Treated with beeswax to prevent finger-print marks to appear as well as prolongs the oxidizing process. Please note that the material will still develop and oxidize over time.

The Reflecting Flame is both available in small with single vessel for one candle, Reflecting Flame I and a double version for two candles, Reflecting Flame II, in both brass and aluminum. Christian+Jade have also created a triple version, Reflecting Flame III available in just aluminum.

Christian Hammer Juhl (DK) and Jade Chan (SG) are a design duo, educated at the Design Academy Eindhoven, Netherlands and are currently based in Copenhagen. Christian+Jade is founded on an instinctive search for designs that can allow a deeper sense of belonging to the spaces in which we dwell and inhabit. They strive to create objects that can encourage sensible and valuable interactions, through conceptually driven narratives and earnest materials.
